    Plastering an old bathroom

Hi fellas, I’m doing a job for a mate re-plastering a bathroom. He’s taken a load of old tiles off as well as the adhesive on one wall. But the plaster behind this is very uneven and pitted. Lots of holes also etc. My question is, would I be ok evening up the whole surface with approx a 5mm coat...

Rendering a wall (after two days of rain)

Afternoon fellas, I've scratchcoated a garden wall, and it's looking like there may be a window in the weather tomorrow to float the topcoat. Its rained non-stop for two days where I am, so what I need to know is, can I throw the top coat on to a wall that has taken two days rain, and will not...

Anyone Plastered in the good ol' U S of A?

Cheers for that. He's going to send me a few photo's of exactly what needs doing, but yeah, a trip to Home Depot will be a definite. 45 degrees in the shade there yesterday :RpS_biggrin: Rest assured his air-con will be set to "freeze-mode" if I'm grafting in those temps!

Anyone Plastered in the good ol' U S of A?

Evening fella's - I'm after some info on the prefered plastering methods for our friends across the Pond. My brother has just come back from the States on a visit, and has put a proposition to me about plastering a couple of rooms in his house - I plaster the two rooms, in return for him...

    11" Pre-worn SS Marshalltowns...?

You'd be saving me a lot of time and effort... There was a bird walking down the street the other day with an arse like a peach. I thought to myself, my missus has got an arse like that... ...in fact, she's got three of 'em.

    11" Pre-worn SS Marshalltowns...?

Just an update. I got the Permashape pre-worn Marshalltown in the end. And what a thing of beauty it is...:RpS_thumbup: As a relative novice, far be it from me to give advice to others just starting out, but its probably the best £40 I've ever spent. I've mucked around a bit on various...

    11" Pre-worn SS Marshalltowns...?

Ah right, maybe I'll go for that one then, cheers. Kebab King - I've actually got an old Ragni in the shed. I figure though I want to give myself the very best chance of a decent result, so I see paying a bit more for the best leaves me with no excuses then!:RpS_biggrin:

    11" Pre-worn SS Marshalltowns...?

Yeah looked on there. Transtools sell one but it's a gold blade - dunno if it might be a bit 'bling' for my level... ...that leads to another question, are the gold bladed trowels any different in terms of quality? Or is it purely cosmetic?

    11" Pre-worn SS Marshalltowns...?

I'm after one of these - 11", Pre-worn, and stainless steel. Trying to find one that is 11" pre-worn and stainless is proving to be a pain in the arse. There are plenty of 13"'ers around but as a relative beginner I think the 11" may be a little easier to handle. Any help much appeciated...

    Well hello.

Cheers mate. I'm no spread (not yet anyhow:RpS_biggrin:) I've done a bit of diy rendering which I was pleased with, and helped out a couple of plasterer mates with their mix etc. I've just reached a time in my life where I really want to learn to do something properly. Maybe it's too late...

    Well hello.

Ok, like I said, I'm new - pretty much totally new - to these boards and to plastering, so I'll get the most important question out of the way first... ...I'm easily confused - is it my mother someones wanting a fiddle with? Thanks in advance.

    Well hello.

Hi fellas, I'm Andy and I'm new. :RpS_blushing: Daughter got upset today. She likes playing in the garden. Sometimes cats walk through our garden. We don't even own a cat, but i know cats walk through our garden, 'cos I had laid fresh concrete. When I came out the next day there were cat paw...
