Plastering an old bathroom

Hi fellas, I’m doing a job for a mate re-plastering a bathroom. He’s taken a load of old tiles off as well as the adhesive on one wall. But the plaster behind this is very uneven and pitted. Lots of holes also etc. My question is, would I be ok evening up the whole surface with approx a 5mm coat of bonding, then skimming over? I would also pva the day before to control the suction.

Any advice gladly received. Cheers chaps

Yeah or if you wanted to do it in 1 day mix 50/50 bonding and board then second coat with board

All the bathrooms I have re done over the years I would if I could give it a tight coat of bonding then skim :D if the job needed it I would take it back to brick but most of the time bonding was perfect :D

Will you be tiling it again. Reason i ask is some think they need the walls skimmed and straightened before tiling. If it is, no need to skim. Just re-board.
