The site i'm working on ,the lads finished topping it last week but i noticed today that some of it has washed off after 6 days ,I don't miss doing the outsides this time of year

Lol tell me about it this is how a phone call usually goes when someone calls me for work

it makes me loff every time why do some people think they will get paid before they've finished their work and before the person who's paying them will go and run the rule over it

Had a gang ready to start january. Rates and payments terms agreed

Earier i said do u want a couple of houses before xmas. Asked me again for rates and payment terms. Said terms which is 14days after completion. His reply was actually i could do with getting paid sharpish before xmas.... t wat

I'd tell em to cheque there bank accounts in 14 days! [emoji16]

I have subbies, there good to me so I'm good to them, I pay within 7 of invoice being sent after completion.
I'm only small though so god know how people cope with 10+ blokes.
I get there point in wanting to be paid but if your going to be a subbie this should be expected Or go and do your own jobs and earn your own wedge!

So if u had a gamg do a 100m render for you. Will you pay them day on completion?

Scenario.
1 week down the line a problem arises. Costs u 2 hrs surveying. 200 mats . Day or 2 wage to rectify. Youve paid subbies in full. What do you do?

Ive always known 14day invoices. But thats from commercial background.

Domestics yes day completion.

But if you subbie out from builders. And your a middle man im on 30days from builders/funders. Subbies are 14 days from me. Its controlling cashflow and protecting yourself from.remedials
Some say 14days is being a c unt. I say its business. If you got a business in this trade youd accept it. Not moan about it.

Ive got 6 on. My full time subbies i pay 7 days.
One off jobs or contract work is 14 days. It is a worry when an invoice is late paying you and you got a.wage bill of 4k for the week

If everyone paid on the day ther wouldnt be a build industry.

Mr david wilson buying x amount of bricks onday one and all their labour.

So.do.you disagree with travis or jewson giving you 30 days to pay? Or should you pay as you collect?
 
I wasnt questioning your buisness Dan i was saying how it is for me and whatever terms you have with your lads is your buisness. I also pointed out that is why i dont subby much as i hate waiting to be paid when ive finished a job which is why i stick to mainly domestic. The builders and other trades i do jobs for all know i will want paying on completion and just pay me straightaway or get the customer to pay me direct.
Our job is hard enough without being dicked around waiting to get paid!? I may come across as money grabbing etc but i dont care i only expect to be paid when im finished and the job is right (obviously) and i dont think thats too much to ask??

14 days!! Were lucky to get cash within a month off our builders pretty much a month every time..domestics get paid on day but ye agree if we demanded cash from builders/contractors on day of completion there would laugh at me

I couldnt work for people like that mate, as for "cash" lucky you. I ask for baccs payments and shove cheques

Exactly.

Im on 30day invoice but i carry the debt for 14days so i can pay labour in 14days. I could play it properly and say 30days but i dont

If you did you know that would limit the amount of blokes prepared to work for those terms. Again Dan i aint having a go at you i just hate all this delay in being paid when a job is done!? All these large companies could easily afford to pay subbies on time but they choose not to because they'd rather hang on to it

I know you not mate.

I used to think the same until i started as supervisor then on my own. I dont think it would be physically impossible for the industry to pay on the day. There is so many chains these days.

Yeah different if its small builder with a small extension or similar.

But builder gets a 50k refurb. Client will pay in stages.
Builder buys mats and gets rip out and 1st fix.done. if all labour and trades claim then whos responsibility is it to finance this?

Small.jobs pay on day. Commercial 14 to.30days
 
i got one that i work for ,does the month ,ok its my choice to take those terms ,most pay within the week ,have a developer wants to pay in advance ,the last site was 6 houses !bless him i said no ,pay as we go !
