It's like any other thing you end up doing automatically, once you start it becomes second nature. For a set up like you have there if it's a quick job I put a bike strap like this around a piece of 4 x 2 inside of the room bridging the window and pull the ladder rung to it. Wrap the 4 x 2 so that it doesn't mark the walls. You can sometimes feed the strap through over the end of a joist at the eves, or screw a bolt to the side of the joist. If it's a slightly longer job then I drill a scaffold eye bolt like this into the wall.
The cat ladder can then be strapped to the climbing ladder.
I know most don't bother with stuff like that on small jobs or as one man bands. But then find out the hard way that they have no insurance if there's an accident and they haven't secured the ladders properly, worn a harness, have signs and/or a spotter on the ground etc.
