Poor Plasterers

Tough times.
:(.
We've just run out of fifties in the downstairs wc, and have now had to resort to using twenties  .
Poor Plasterers

It's about 7quid a bag here or so. Last delivery of ultra was 5.39 a bag ex tax, so bout 6.50 and that was on offer.

I always said it, put up the price of these materials , would clear the market up straight away, would weed out the 100 quid a day blokes who can't do Thursdays because that's when he signs on.
I couldn't care less how much is a bag custard pays in the end anyway, I'm sure it would help site rates to rise too if it wouldn't be 5 quid but 15-20 quid a bag

Glad to see someone with a bit of common sense stepping up

Yep be good if it was 50 a bag. They would think twice about who they get to do the job.

wastage on site is 10%.
id say 30% when idiots are on site scurrying away at 2 oclock leaving everything unwrapped.
+ VAT free for mats on new build
+ bulk buy is a massive difference
+ house builders have shares in BG so they will always use their product....its a win win for them both.

the wastage on site this time of year is just unreal (y)

i might start selling bags to you all for £3 each.
i dont think sites would notice its gone !!

I don't know how I do the waste, I knock up 2 bags and throw away 3 bags worth, must be magic

But cheaper through tradepoint, wickes still do multi buy.

That one bag earns me £100 not including the material cost.

It’s a pittance, I do not see an issue lol.

Me neither. Materials cost what they cost! Just pass the cost on to your customer after you’ve put a bit on for yourself . How hard is it?

@Vincey £5.86 here in Stevenage, a lot of competition around it though.

That’s shop price not through tradepoint

There is so many different types of plasterers on here, the business pros, the site guys , the domestic dons , and the multitraders, the renderers,
What is everyone’s opinion on these prices today, my cousin flipped his lid today when he went to b&q, said they not even offering multi buy now either, most say you can’t get better prices in merchants, so is this the new prices for 2018.
BG always state that the merchants set the price so is this b and q setting the price for coming year or what

My last visit to b and q I didn’t get a discount even with my trade point card. So it’s not worth going anymore if I’m paying the same where I can get the materials on credit. Think b and q was the place to go for domestic cash jobs.

This is valid point, might as well tell customers to go get the gear themselves, it’s all just a loss for plasterer , drive there , time and then £6.50 a bag wtf even to pick up a few bags probably equivalent to £50 to a plasterer with zero profit and probably run at a loss tbf picking it up

B&Q is just never the place to go ever never imo... unless you are diy painting

Then you have to take the health effects of getting stuck behind Morris and Doris buying two begonias, four screws, a picture hook and asking the spotty youth for advice on each purchase.

Fcuk that sh1t, just use a merchants.

All that s**t gets factored into the quote, but there will always be muppets that don’t think like that and do it extra cheap. The domestic scene down here is infected with one man bands going in cheap.

If you have a problem with skim going up pennies put your own priced up but for under 7 quid a bag I think that's good still I can earn off that?
