Winning and Losing Work.

Winning and Losing Work.

About 20 years ago I got a good run of work for from the 'County Council' for about 6 months. Great I thought as Councils don't go bust as it is government money.

I did a few property's and began to notice that the quality of work in the houses was disgraceful, I talked to my old boss and he told me to get away from council work fast. Apparently it is where the ' not so good tradesman ' end up.

But that was then, I think nowadays most council work is subbed out.

I did a run of it as well and fell out with them because the standard was cack...

Im having a month of at xmas, im knackered, last job 16th december next job 13th jan, I cant wait, been tough getting work in for dec my mybuilder lead fees took a right bashing

Always suprises me still plastering right up to 23rd most years. Always nice to get January booked in then the rest normally just follows.

I am meant to be out on the bike this morning but Christ it looks cold outside and my bed is so warm

It shudnt matter as I'm paying double compared to multi it should be able to control any background at £10 a bag..its old skimmed walls is the background with no paint on but it shud still be able to hold some sort of suction..straight in bin

Sorry it hasn't been good experience for you that looks like it's adhering to paint and pulling paint away from the original blue paint

Yep agree..u live and learn I'm just glad its not somebody else's house..tidy up time and pva everything for 2mz

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Kitchy you've used it on possibly the worst surface for it! Old skimmed walls ain't worth the Agro. As for the painted area, that's not down to the plaster, would of happened with multi.
You can't guarantee what your going over when there's a coating over the original can you.
Fair play for trying it but surely you'd read the threads about it being best on artex and 'sound' painted surfaces.
I've never had an issue with it....Vince I want some commission!

Oh well just glad its my own house lol..

In my experience can only be used on silk painted surfaces and for this is an excellent product and I'll continue to use it as long as it's produced.

Glad it was only 1/2 a bags worth..can only see it being any gud for stipple artex as pva takes ages to set on that

Thing is if you turn up to a job and want to get straight on it, then PVA will take time anyway. At least with uni even if it does hang, the plastering process has begun straight away.

I used unifinish on Monday on an light stipple artex ceiling. My roller and brushes had all frozen solid in the van it was -7 through the nite so I thought i'd give this stuff a bash.

f**k me it takes forever to take up we went for lunch came back and it was still wet. I'd have got home a lot quicker had I used PVA and multi..so much for time saving.

I get a lot of s**t jobs to do where people always have a go there selves today being one of them, picked up a few bags yesterday for this kitchen as I knew I'd be walking into a bomb site of crap prep, sometimes helps me out on jobs like this when it's cold in the house and just want to crack on, painted surfaces are the best for it but also little mixes over anything really
