Tudor style houses - rendered fascias?

Anyone ever attempted to render the boards found on the front of tudor style houses?

I went to quote a job who wanted the same as next door who had all boards removed, the front hacked off, then re-rendered, then they beaded it all up in the original formation of the struts and rendered them in to form 'fake' fascias (boards, struts, beams, whatever there called).

Pretty good, means they wont ever flake or go rotten.

Quite right Render but he did say Tudor Style so i am assuming he is talking about more modern Mock Tudor and if you want to do it properly it should be Lime Putty.
