Can some one who uses these give me low down on exactly when to use em to get mint finish

get straight on it when it's wet first and second coats, before you have even washed your trowel.
I go across both ways making sure I keep it away from beads as they aren't the toughtest cookies lol
they are good but they dont get right in the corner so I end up going round anyway tiding edges up

Lash your first coat on and then straightaway drop back @Speedskim... then if you second coat do it while the gear is still wet

I normally speedskim then tidy edges up with an 18 inch MT trowel
