Hi all.pretty new to plastering but doing ok. Just wondered what size trowel everyone is using. Been on a few jobs with plasterers that I know and they seem to have bigger trowels. Is it worth buying a bigger trowel to gain an extra inch or two or do I stick with what I got?

Use what ever suits you.
You will get a 100 different answers on here.
14 inch is best though.

I trained with a 15 inch for 3 years then used a 13.5 for 11 years I know use a 12 inch to put on it's what it looks like at end that makes the difference

im same as beddy got a large bag full of trowels 2 many to try an recall what ones i actually have and i always go back to my 14, although today i did use a 20 for a bit

Thats why I got the second part in as I knew youd mention weight. Your Fattest (now you say no you're fattest)

i6 inch , biut may go back to 14 inch soon,, dont be tempted by the real big trowels, tried them in the past and f---ed my elbows up big time

Iv used an 18" for years with no adverse effects, I did try the 20" but it was like trying to skim with conan the barbarians sword.

i wanna try that 24" marshalltown @malc has sounds like a weapon that thing
