Garage ceiling, Artex or plaster, Asbestos testing?

I’ve recently moved into a house built around the mid1980’s

I have noticed the garage ceiling has a bare, unfinished, unpainted swirl texture pattern in a light brown, sandy colour?

Not sure if it’s artex or plaster?

If it’s artex does it need testing for asbestos due to the age of the house?

What colour is bare artex, I presume it should be white?

Does it require sealing with PVA & painting over to make it safe if it’s artex?

Any advice, any idea?

Thanks
That’s not artex.

If it’s not artex, should I just leave it alone?

Does it need sealing or painting over?

Any idea what type of texture finish it is, shown in the photos?

Any other make of texture finish had asbestos apart from artex at the time?

Thanks

Sell up and move .

If it’s multi finish or finish-plaster did it contain asbestos during the mid 1980’s?

According to online information about asbestos, it was also added to plaster in the 1980’s

Worth getting it tested for asbestos?

Is it ok just to leave it bare?

Not sure what to do really or just sell up & move!

If you don't mind the textured look give it a misting coat of paint 70°paint 30°water mixed (water based emulsion, not vinyl).
Let that dry then a couple of coats of paint.

If you don't like it it's an easy job for a plasterer.

No asbestos, so no need to worry or waste money on tests.

Thanks for that!

Do you think it’s ok to just leave it bare?

Don’t want to do anything unless it’s necessary as the garage is for storage rather than a living space.

Bare plaster is very porous and personally I'd give a coat of paint just to seal it.

Everybody going on about asbestos in artex fumes from cars will get us before artex lol
The new asbestos is horse hair in plaster, they recon it can contain Anthrax as a lot of horses died from it and it can remain for many years. Lot of pish if you ask me, just another scare mongering money making scam ..

Mate, if you can afford it, get it skimmed - that will be one ugly c**t painted - it will look dog-rough and heavy. You’ll forever look up at that ugly c**t and wish you had it skimmed.
