So how do you assess a civil engineer? Do you turn up at the roadworks on the M4, and take photos of a bloody great flyover for his portfolio? Surely civil engineers would already have HNC/HND/Degrees etc.
Any where you think you can make a quick buck, eh!
Just groundworks I reckon he's referring to..
Laying curbs, setting levels oh and leaning on spades
Yeah Tony , you'd know all about that eh !!!
We are given contracts from the awarding bodies that we need to fulfil and i take it none of you actually read the link i posted which states NO not all civils have an nvq. No wonder construction industry gets a bad name when ppl like you lot cant even agree that all industries should be up to standards.
Here's my take on the whole CSCS, NVQ, send out an assessor to take a few photos and there's your certificate b*ll***s.
It's a moneymaking racket. Companies like yours, relieve tradesmen that don't have these cards, out of their hard earned wages, for very little input from yourselves. Charging them probably a minimum of £500 for a couple of site visits, and the compilation of a 'portfolio of evidence' that states they can do their job, that they have probably been doing for decades quite competently. Now what is that on your part? Maybe 4-6 hours of one of your operatives time. Great value for money. No doubt the government will be getting a percentage of your fee. Your 'assessors' are probably either straight out of college and have little or no site experience, or failed tradesmen themselves, that couldn't make a living out in the real world so found a cosy little number pretending to be an authority on whatever discipline/s they cover. You say you are given contracts that you need to fulfill? Sounds like sales targets to me. Thats probably why you are desperately starting threads for this, that, and the other trades, apprentices and the like. You're here for one reason, and one reason only..........£££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££
