I sprayed a decent size celing today with m Tec 100 didn't go as smoothly as I hoped layed up the first coat ok is very messy as ppl said it would we ended up laying up top coat by hand as we had a build up in the pipes and it backed up. I take it multi had built up and couldn't get threw the pipes. If we make the stuff wetter then it's very sloppy to trowel does this mean I need to leave it longer before I even put a trowel on it any help on timings and process would be appreciated

What was you spraying onto?

I spray it on bigger jobs spray like in metre wide strips one way and then a quick dust the other way put about 25 m2 before you even think about flattening

I used multi on plasterboard about 60 2m the stuff was wet to trowel and then machine got jammed as we made the stuff a bit stiffer to make the troweling better we ended up top coating by hand celing turned out nice but what a mess I spoke to Andy at Pft and apparently I had the water to low but to put it on at the recommended water level it is a lot weter than normal and found it very sloppy to trowel I just wonders what methods other people use

the float didnt seem to move but after about 3 bags the stuff got a bit wetter for some unknown reason so we adjusted the water slightly then it slowed up spraying and the water backed up to hopper. the water but was 3/4 full when the drops would this affect the flow or not

probably to stiff to start with if the pipes have blocked a bit and can't flow so easy the same amount of water is going in the mixing chamber and then back into the hopper so wetter is better to start with
me and the lad have put 110m2 on he flattens i don't start on the trowel until its all on

Thanks for your help I was spaying layed the ceiling up and my brother started to trowel it off and found it to wet to trowel and was leaving it a bit bubblie then machine jammed and we decided to mix by hand and put 2 nd coat on by hand it was our first time spraying multi I'm just wondering weather it's worth percivering to try and master it I used it this morning to spray tanking slurry and worked a treat sprayed on 10 25 kg buckets in just under an hour which I was very happy with then tried the multi this afternoon and was a ball ache I'm just wondering if it's worth the hastle

its worth it in the long run especially when your doing like a 10m2 high wall or something so spray wetter flatten it when its picked up a bit and then i sponge it that helps the bubbling bit just a bit different from handballing they are better for the floating side of things

It's definitely easier having it mixed and pumped with no carrying involved for sure are walls easier we have practised in an old barn and had a lot less mess compared to a ceiling it's just hard after a day like today to try again especially if it happens again. If I was to use tomorrow we would have to tape up big patio doors and windows etc and just seems a lot of prep, as much I really want to use it,by hand seems the cleanest way are then any other tip you would recommend to make sure it goes well appreciate your help

Never sprayed before but I see where your coming from ie 25 m2 let the stuff pull in a bit before flattening!

I'm not sure how you set up the m100 but with the eze24 you have to have the air on when you prime, I am thinking it's the same principle as it's the same gun.
When I've primed before with no air it has sprayed well to start with then jammed up.
Then it's panic stations.
Personally I would handball the ceilings and fill out beads and tapes on that set and also set machine up between trowels, then go for a couple of bigger set on your walls, and like Mike says with the trowel process you need a sponge.

what was name of tanking slurry you used ?

I would say it does around 10 2m we put a good coat on and found that we never needed to brush it as it sprayed and covers really well yes you can use it straight on block but you would need to damp the block work first as blocks suck in quite fast I reckon by spraying it we saved a weeks work

If you got the machine new ,your main dealer should always be your first port of call ,if not i,m sure they can advise anyway

What a great idea never even thought about using the ritmo for a slurry :)

Did you 2 pass it to be sure of coverage?

I couldn't believe how well it would worked my self I had to get a different mixing piece because the tanking is slightly courser than multi and set a lower water level. We sprayed in meter sections one way then a quick going over in the other direction if your walls are all pointed up well and brushed in neat it covers really well

Bit confused there do you mean 10 m2 ? Also did you mix it first then pour it straight in or let the machine mix it ? Can i do a floor with it. i want to use it in a little bike shed i have some damp in

Don't let anyone tell you u can spray multi. It's s**t to spray. And it will clog the pipes and even if it doesn't clog them it is a c**t to clean out of the machine. Get kanuf mp finish and spray it. Nice to spray. Easy to clean. Best tip for spraying skim is when you start spraying don't stop just have a man flatten it as u spray. Don't forget u have to finish what you put on.

Did u find it all goes off at once

Everytime i used it i would get 50 or so mts on. It would be wet for ages, then sponge float it and booom it would all go off.
Never been keen for a re visit

Was it really clod out. I had it happen to me once when hand applying.

no it was summer. but tbh ive tried it many times prior and the thistle one all with the same result.

I'd of been better off laying the room on by hand, spending a couple hours throwing some really wet gear everywhere to make a mess then just when its turning hard decide to trowel it up

whilst we are on subject ive heard loads of reports that people use knauf skim by hand and can get more m2 on in a guage because of the slower setting time or something. Does anyone know what this system is. as in procedure

Any time I sprayed mp finish we all ways mixed it up with the mixer. I don't know if that makes a difference. I never used a machine that can mix and pump when skimming.
