    Customer rant!!

Rigsby, unfortunately the rule of law overrides all clauses within a contract. A daft (and rather extreme) example would be if you had a clause in the contract whereby you were allowed to give the customer a good slap if they paid up late. Even if the customer signed this contract, you...

    Customer rant!!

There appears to be the general belief on here that a tradesman owns the materials until they are paid for, I'm afraid that from a legal perspective, this isn't strictly true! It all boils down to the legal definitions of "Fixtures" and "Fittings" and the maxim that "what is attached to the...

    Switches and sockets

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the photos of a first electrical fix where the socket fronts have been put on, before the chases and gaps around the boxes have been filled and skimmed.

    Switches and sockets

Prior to a career change, I was a sparky with 30 plus years experience, man and boy. I registered with this forum a few years ago to get tips and advice whilst doing an evening course to try and get sufficiently capable at skimming to make a decent fist of my own house. I've got to say...

    B & Q offers

No, defo a 14 incher. They had the 13 inchers as well tho, at £17. The MT's have got 5 or 6 squid off each and there was an 11" Ragni S/S for £8 I'm a strictly "my house only" amateur and I intend to use my lovely new Tyzack to trowel up after laying on with my MT 13" carbon.

    B & Q offers

B & Q are selling off their Tyzack range at half price and there is a few quid off the MT range as well. Just got a 14in S/S pre worn Tyzack for £18, sweet ;D I went to the Swinton, Salford branch but assume that this will be nationwide.

    Howdy

Thanks for the welcome lads. Unfortunately, I commited the henious crime in a different thread, of suggesting that most sparkies probably don't realise how much leaving the cables out annoys you guys. For this terrible crime, I was called a "t**t" and apparently I don't have a sense of humour...

    Hug a Sparky!

Nice What a lovely welcoming bunch you are. I join in with 2 or 3 other forums for likeminded peeps (motorbikes etc) and was warmly welcomed to each of them. They are a valuable source of info and help, as forums should be. My 2nd post on here simply pointed out that the hated sparkies...

    Hug a Sparky!

Hi Guys, As an ex sparky with 26 years experience (you can see why I'm on this forum in the "say Hello" bit) I can say with all honesty that never once has a spread asked me to tuck my cables inside the boxes. Until reading some of the posts on here, I had no idea that it annoyed you so much...

    Howdy

Thanks ChrisW Unfortunately, I donate almost half of my salary to my favorite charity (the CSA) so am not quite as well off as I should be. I'd probably do it myself anyway, I'm quite a hands on person and love learning news skills. Can't wait for the course to start. if I get as much plaster...

    Howdy

Hi gang, I am due to start a course in January. It is one 3 hr night a week for 10 weeks. I probably wont need to attend after the 3rd week, cos smoothing a bit of muck on a wall aint exactly rocket science is it? I'll probably start up on my own sometime in mid February and undercut all of...
