Dose anyone know anything about adding baking soda or bicarbonate soda to extend the drying time for multi finish?
you can purchase creame of tarter from a chemist shop. you just need to put a pinch into the water before you mix up.
but why do you want to slow the setting time down. we are trying to speed the setting time up to get home before its dark. if you are not carefull you will be at work all night!
As Barryed said but does seem to make the plaster go a bit weired.
we have been through this many times, you are talking about creame of tarter, it will kill the strength of the finished plaster.
why do you want to slow the setting time?
welcome by the way.
Why do you want to slow down the drying process. Quick drying is very good to increase the life of plaster. And addition of chemicals decrease the plaster quality.
BG alter the working time of plaster all the time: they change the amount of retarder in their plaster according to the time of year. In Spring/Summer they increase the amount and in Autumn/Winter they reduce the amount. It might not be a good idea to slow the working time of batches that were designed for Summer because there is already a good amount of retarder in the plaster. It is better practice to change habits and work with smaller hits than play around with working times.
I think that's all me arse! How and why would they fook about with different mixes of retarder to suit a f***ed up climate like ours.
