What I've found is Permashapes definitely hold well, they usually maintain the contour and shape whatever you throw at them.


Xtra lites I find get bloody sharp quickly, both carbon and stainless types. I had an 18" and a 14" that after hard trowelling for a few months went a bit wavy along the length of the trowel, still usable but fell out of favour, so I replaced them with new versions, and those Xtralites held shape fine with the same hard trowelling.
 
Ye definately have to put more pressure on an xtralite but i personally think the finish is better and holds its shape better the perma spoon are a pain in the ass after a while serious bowing 7
