Looked at a job for a Decorater I know , he had pulled the paper of some walls and the skim had come off as well leaving bare render ,
told him to give it 2 good coats of sbr then when dry use a pregrit on it gave him all the gear to do it
Got there today got skim on and bang all dry and crazy cracked in 20 minutes spoke to him and he said oh didn't think it needed the sbr knob had to scrape all the skim off and PVa and reskim
I lost 2 hours of my busy day and 3 bags of skim

Why use an SBR? I helped another plasterer out the other week who was using SBR on his own render before he skimmed it I just don't see the point and is this one of it's uses or just another made up potion?

I would not skim over sbr I use it for sealing extreme porous backgrounds first then PVa or grit find it better
