Hi
I'm currently unemployed but for the last few months I'v been going twice a week to a training centre working towards my city&guilds 6000 series qualification.I'm quite aware that this isn't a major qualification and this is where I need advice.

My long term goal is to become a fully qualfied plasterer and as money is tight I'm keen to do this in asap.
I would appreciate anyones thoughts on which route to take and how to go about it?I've looked into diplomas, nvq's,city and guilds and intensive training courses but at the end of the day I want to know how to plaster well, earn decent money and possibly become my own boss.

Thanks Al

the way it is at the minute mate, you arent going to earn mega money until you are very good, or youre oasis. the quickest route is a course, but they get slated alot on here. alot of it is deserved but theres a few lads on here that have made a success of themselves after going on a course. try going on a course to get your quals. but then go and work with a time served plasterer who knows their stuff. be prepared not to earn good money and to be labouring to start with. that way you get the quals quick but still learn the right way to do things.

Cheers for the reply

When you say go on a course to get the qualifications do you mean the nvq 2 or dipoma or ....? Cause i know that you need to get assessed on site for the nvq level 2.
