hi all

currently building a new house, well a contractor is building it for me..

but I am almost at the stage now where I need to let him know what type of external wall finish I require.

we were always going with K rend, until I saw a few new builds with Krend that where going green in parts, and then I found a few horror stories online with tales of it falling off in parts etc etc, which made us start thinking of painting/slap dash, spar dash as alternatives - neither of which we like as much as the K rend finish.

what is the general consensus among the experts on K Rend? have you seen it lasting for 15 plus years issues free? I did speak with on guy who has it on his house 10 years and in that time he has had to wash a north face wall twice due to algae growth - which sounds more than acceptable to me (nature is nature)

also, thanks to this site, I now know that there are different krend finishes, mono , nano thinset etc
can someone explain the difference to me? and which should I be going for

some basic facts on house

exposed with little shelter from the elements until I get the trees planted
no eaves - is this an issue?
1 wall likely to get little sunshine, but is hidden from general view

any advice appreciated!

Welcome, first of all get a renderer who is approved in the system you are going for Parex, Krend or thin set Jub etc to name a few. also ask to see there work.
Personally I would go for a thincoat system full mesh with silicone self cleaning top coat (nano) .
There are loads of top renderers, who will be able to help or do the work for you, where are you from?
