What's the best starter van for a plasterer?

because he hasn't and didn't have a clue how to do anything and I've seen vids of him on you tube and it's all wrong ....if you think he's good then you're s**t too
 
Im going for a new van soon, Still want a transporter with the rear seats in but slightley out of my price range, aint seen one less than 7 grand whats the deal?

The kombi is always dearer than the panel van. Because they are sought after, they hold their money well.
 
You can get em converted for £1500 to the kombi, my mate payed 5 grand for a 06 plate only had 60.000 on the clock can i find a deal like that no lol.

Sorry for the late reply guys i was a bit tipsy last night lol.

Use your £2000 as a deposit and get a new Transit . No MOTs or reliability issues to worry about, and it's all tax deductable too.

Warrior my car is ok for my job but i don't want to just manage anymore,
I want a van because i'm a bit fed up of the looks i get from other builders when I'm cutting angle beads on b&q car park at 7:45 in the morning for a job that's 15mins away as they won't fit into my car full length, so i have to take measurments the day before then cut them at b&q so they fit in the car.
I actually got a couple of beads in the car once poking through the passenger window but they bent as i drove onto customers tight driveway they got caught in the hedge ffs!!!!

But back to the van, well i think a transit is a bit macho for me lol.
I was looking for something a bit smaller but one that i can get 1800 x 900 plasterboards in.

dunc im selling my van in a couple of months. mercedes vito 108 cdi. 810000 miles on clock. year 2000. its more like driving a car than a van
 
the tranny connnect is a good van ive herd very good things bout it but as a transit driver myself ill have to say dnt be a pussy and get a real transit haha:RpS_wink:.
dnt get a vivaro thier sheite had one for bout 3 months broke down 6 times haha, i felt bad selling it knowing how shite it was but meh i needed the money to buy a proper van
 
Spunky why are all the coursers hating you lol. Got a fiat ducato JTD, get all my tools, buckets, hop ups spot, could fit a pallet of boards and a pallet of plaster in it if I needed to. Even got space for my hoover, first aid kit, extinguisher and 'men at work' bullshit sign that we have to use

I've got a new VW Transporter mate. 2 litre 102HP model & 40+ mpg
Most plasterers seem to favour the Transit, but 'm a dryliner so must be different.
 
Cos he's a ******* chancer earning money off info off here .......honestly I'm so tempted to advertise in his local rag and go and price jobs just to tell people how s**t he is

Lmfao yeah he did ask your alot of questions, he wasn't evan a spread was he?.....Dunno how he got his prices he got?.....Work didn't look to bad though in some photos..
 
fiat....... stands for fix it again tony, used to work with someone who had on of them but it wassnt looked after so i cnt really coment on what thier like, the new ones look bloody mahoosive though that might be and idea to get one of them
 
the mechanic i use had a look over it for me when i got it, said its spot on and ill just keep going, got 170k on the clock and it never misses a beat. 80 down the motorway full of s**t in the back
 
theres a reason why 90% of panel vans sold in the uk are ford, and it aint because there cheap.

realiability,cheap to service parts,hold there money well etc

bad points RUST !
Both my transits are less than 3 year old and there rusting already above the windscreens and around the underside of front arches.

if youve getting to a decent turnover a new van is a must, cuts your tax bill down, 3 years of hastle free motoring ,looks better than turning up on jobs in a banger,first impressions and all that.

wow 170k what year is it, my transit is 54 plate and its only got 63 on the clock, bought it 3 years ago with 40k on it, bargin at £5,500
 
most diesel vans will go round the clock twice, if seviced regularly. A guy on the Transit forum has nearly 300k on his van. I've got a way to go, mines got 25k on it.
 
i was goin to get a new van but like i said i cnt afford a new van and a new car so i was thinking i might get my van wrapped completly in a different colour then sign written again just to give me an illusion of a new van haha, i just need to find out whats cheaper re-spray or wrapping
 
Well save up mate cus at 55 to 60 thosuand miles youl need a new fuel pump and thats gonna cost you a Grand to repair.Happens to all trannies.
I have nothing against trannies,i would recommend a mwb cus trhere 9 foot in the back offering plenty of room,also get a high or medium roof van cus you will need the space for tools mixers and god knows what else you could be carrying.
Bigger is better but miore expensive to run ( fuel wise ).
 
Get it wrapped. Far better looking. Look at it this way, it might bring you more work.....then you can afford a new/nearly new van!!!
 
yeah i think i will get it wrapped ..........bright purple with baby blue lettering haha.
and skimming dnt you worry bout me mate my best mates are brothers and ones a mechanic and the others a parts man at euro car parts, i tend to get things for free as ive done work for thier family in the past to help them out :RpS_wink:
 
in fact got a new wheel bearing and hub goin on this weekend in return for laying a few paveing slabs
 
i think if you aint got a lock up or garage, you,d prolly be better of with a tranny so you can keep all the gear in it overnight ,2000k will get you a tidy one. ive got a kangoo which is just big enough ,6x3s fit in back coving on the roof ,1400 diesel so cheap on fuel,i think bigger vans are more handy on site work ,used to have vw lts which used to have 10ft floor ideal for carrying a heap of cornice in the dry ,bottom line mate only buy what you can afford

That's right lee. My Tranny regularly gets parked/abandoned in bus stops, private bays, double yellows, other peoples drives, Doctors private parking.....you name it. (apart from disabled, mind) And nobody says boo!! It's newish, black and unmarked. So people think it's official lmao

Well guys the way it's going my £2000 is slowly going down.
No work at the minute, rent to pay, partying most nights.
Think I'll just stick with the car for now & blow the lot lolz!!
Off to see a mate in Brighton in a few weeks hope the car makes it lol.
 
think about prioritys mate buy a van then you can work more and make more money thus more paryting for the small sacrifice of not partying now. i did the same years ago wen i first started 10 year ago now:-0 but soon saw the error of my ways and bought a escort but found that too small
