What kind of plaster is this?

Good evening all,

We have moved into a 300 year old cottage that is having some damp issues. Can somebody confirm if this is gypsum? It's looks pink to me. I've read this stuff isn't great for old houses and should be lime plaster

Looks like lime wash over gypsum skim, cannot see the backing plaster! You will have to knock it down to brick to she what it is.

OK, slightly confused. The pink stuff is under the white (which is paint I think) what would you suggest I do with it to confirm?

That's pretty much back to the chimney, anybody advise what each stuff is and cause it be causing damp?

That looks like sand cement hack it off and 3 coat in lime

That's what I guessed it was, problem is it's on all the walls in the house. Should lime be on all walls or just external?

What about shared walls with neighbours?
