got a small area about 6mtrs to base on to boards would it be ok to mesh first pass then top off with another top coat on the same day or is it best leaving the first coat to dry thanks

If you tooth the 1st coat out then mesh. It will be ok same day. And without toothing it would be fine as long as it was a warm day and had sort of cured before the sponge coat was applied

Just make sure the boards are set up right to spec. Split the time up between coats as long as possible.

Apply some base coat and use the notched spat. Push in the mesh slightly. After one hour cover the mesh with more basecoat. This time of the year you can do the topcoat next day.
