I just used a sponge wasnt to bad ar top was just a chew on in that corner where its brick nowt would fit

Just a normal trowel for all but where the curves intersect. Use a sponge or suitable plastic ball for those bits.

I find forming the curve with bonding makes it a lot easier

Yea thats what i done today wouldnt have been 2 bad if that wall wasnt staying as a feature
