As everyone knows the country is in a ressession, with construction taking the biggest hit.
The question to all plasterers is, how are you keeping busy, have you tried advertising, and if so, which on has proved to be the most lucrative.

Don t advertise word of mouth is best,if i did advertise i would spend all my evenings running around getting nothing.I would rather be at home drinking after work. ;)

Word of mouth is always the most effective but advertising can also help bring in much needed work but sometimes its down to where you advertise as to how many enquires it draws in.

Always advertise. How many major, succesful businesses don't advertise? Personally i find a local paper and book a couple of months at a time, saving money on "one off" adverts, plus people like to see that you are a regular advertiser and not some fly-by-night, chancer!!

I ve always advertised, since day 1. If you can't be arsed goin out posting business cards or whatever then spend 10 mins on the Internet filling in free advertising forms. I've had a couple of jobs in the past off Thompson local and ufindus.com.

Hi all Dannys right get a web site you carnt go wrong word of mouth is the best recommendation but you need to start some where and like danny 90% of my work comes for the internet and allso places like trust a trader my hammer my workman not cheap when you first start out but it will pay for its self in the end good luck :)

Yep!

I know a few people on here who have got a lot of work off websites....

I have heard quite a few good reviews about my hammer as well but then there is a massive advertising campaing with them as well so that coule be down to it as well
