Timber or direct dab

Morning and happy new year chaps!

Customer has decided he now wants insulated plasterboard on the external facing walls over the existing plaster.

Never dabbed it directly which I know you can do.

Just concerned about trapping moisture.

What have you guys done previously?

I was thinking of plug and screw 4x1’s then screw the board to them.

Or is dabbing solid enough with no come backs??

I was overskimming until a minute ago!!

Cheers

As long as the bpards are not foil backed, then dab is fine. If its an older house, with a 9" solid wall, then the spec is generally for 47mm PIR insulation. You can get a 62.5mm board (50mm PIR + PB) which is ideal.
Only prob is, they tend to be a bit cupped, so a pain to get flat and you'll need to use bonding to 'true' them up.

Thanks pal,
Wouldn’t bother backing them up with a mechanical fixing also?
