Thin coat system

We've got a thin coat job to do but wanted to ask some questions first.

its an insurance job on a new build where oil has been thrown over some brickwork. the insurance have sent round 2 lots of industrial cleaners to try and remove it but its still stained so they have told the policy holder to have it rendered.

do i need to use a primer? ive done thin coat systems before but only ever over new breeze blocks never over existing bricks. also will there be any problems with the oil coming through? as far as im aware there's no longer any residue its just staining.

Well, you and thin Steve, it just aint going to work.

i`d use a primer, you can not really go wrong then, perhaps try and rough up the surface a little where the oil is first.
 
are you doing the gable or just the wall, and what system are you proposing to use?
youll have to back it off first anyhow with a minimum of 10mm, before any primer etc.

Have you looked at parex's bio graffiti ?
its there graffiti remover, its good stuff it removes paint and more aless anything, sort of eats into it and you just jet wash it off, id imagine it would eat into the oil.
 
I think the last resort should be to render it.
The occupiers should seriously consider the re-sale of the property if they do this.
Looking at the property it seems pretty apparent to be a relatively recent build, last 30 years or so; also I am guessing it is part of a collection or estate properties.
It would look very odd, however well it was done.
As owls says there is maybe another chemical that could be tried. In the past I have used brick dye matched to hide things like this, although that was a reds.

The insurance company has undertaken two attempts at cleaning the walls..both using specialist cleaners firms, it seems that the staining / oil has penetrated the brick? The home owners has decided to put the property on the market but is receiving negative feedback due to the vandalism..so with further contact with the insurance see the only option is to cover the wall with render.
 
We'll be doing both the gable and the garden wall and using JUB rich. There are other houses on the estate that are rendered. Some half rendered. Some just a bay, some fully rendered so it wouldn't stick out too much.

Yeah was gonna say brick tints.
Get them from PICS steve.
 
get the doncaster rover in steve what you learn from him will be worth it's weight in gold , dont look a gift horse in the mouth.
 
would blend the corners of the brick effect into the originals if you know what i mean, instead of say a 215mm x 100 it would be 225m and 110 at the angles, if you get my drift
 
Kind of. Would it be a weak point? As its on the corner of the house by the front door there's a good chance it'll be brushed past quite a lot.
 
Think the quote has gone in now uncle p. Its not my job its a mates else I woud have pushed for wallcrete to get you down so you can take me out for dinner.

I was thinkin of selling it. Either to a leeds fan. Newcastle fan or a ufc fan. My vans all sign written up now!

Had a garden wall job once, black and white spar on a white background, and the punter was moaning that after a couple of weeks the wall looked shoit cos of the dogs p!ssing all along the bottom of it. I had warned him of this, but he knew best.
"What can I do to get it all looking the same" he asked me. "Well" says I "Just get a big bucket of dog p!ss and starting at one end from the top........................"
 
yesterday some little kid shouted "keith lemon" at me when i got out the van, little b.sted. i do live in essex so i guess it was better than " ear mista ma mum says bob tha fukin buildas a be-ahhh builda than u".
