What kind of soundproofing are you doing?
Is it a speech problem from next door or is it music? Completly different situations believe it or not?
Can the customer loose some space on the party wall that you will be working?

If you can hear the neighbours in general then its a mid-range problem, You can fix Gyproc tri-line board (which is acoustic plasterboard with wool insulation) with gyproc sealant as its already plastered, back this up with a few secondary fixings.

If its music then its a low range problem..

Using metal partition fixed to the wall, then a layer of Iso APR 1200 acoustic (which is the yellow rolls of sound insulation) insulation in between the runenrs and then 2 layers of acoustic plasterboard screwed to that and skimmed. You will still have to seal around the plasterboard with gyproc sealant as this is where sound escapes. Good thing about using this system is it gives the gap between the wall and the stud work.
You could use CLS timber instead of the metal track system but again you got to keep the stud work off the wall as the sound travels through it...

Hope that helps

has anyone used that black rubberish sheet stuff i saw on diy sos a while back? apparently it was almost as good as a recording studio time theyd finished...
