Long,

Because the handle is in the middle of the rule, do you still get even pressure along the length of it,..if you get what i mean haha.

yea u do pal its surprisingly easy, at first i thought theyd be all skimming and fat scrapeing of on to the edge but i actualy got less on the edge then i would if i flatened with my stainless steal trowel...

The white and black 1 with the wooden handle, looks crap but wait till u use 1 honest. Trowel up and polish and u will see the difference straight away mate, like a say i dont like change but ive defo converted now and wont be goin back...

The one with the horrible handle? Very thin black blade, very easy to damage blade? About 12 inches long ? Had one , could not see its use ,may re think that now, so you speed skim first and second and leave it till its plastic trowel time... Am I annoying ha ha, off to bed now so you can chill, might get a few others answering this one too...

Right lads am about to throw a spanner in the works... Please just take 2mins to read this post, i know its quite long-

All my career i prided my self on a second to none its not all the same when its painted finish. Ive used loads of trowels, plastic floats and even made my own ect. I must of snapped 5 refina plastic trowels. So i thought id move with the times and give a speed skim ago with or with out a pole attachment along with a plastic finishing trowel from the plasterers 1 stop shop.
I was amazed! seriously, i dont like change but the ease of banging the skiming on, ruling it with the speed skim and not even geting up the ladders to flatten shocked me.
Sat around waiting for a 30m2 + cieling gauge to go in because of some wierd chemical reaction with the speed skim? 3 cigs, a coffie and a read of the paper later i decide to try out the plastic float to trowel and polish with...
Flat as **** honest, no pressure, minimum fat comin off the trowel and hardley any water! :-0
The finish is incredible, and after a polish/trowel am actualy stood looking and feeling my cielings and walls, i couldve crack 1 off there and then lol
So i order all my lads 1 each and watch as there finish and standard improve dramatically over night. Every tool has pros and cons but u need to try it for urself and find ur own technique. In my opinion as great as i love these products i belive its making plastering finishing to easy as now the apprentices are skimming trowel free walls, perfectly flat shiny and pink without a blemish or mark! Who knows what the future holds for manual plastering? :RpS_thumbup:

very interesting, iv got to try one..... id imagine it wouldnt come out the van much on domestic jobs!? which is all i do as site is piss poor pay....

It comes out all the time now lizard even on patching, leaves a very smooth finish before its time to trowel up with the steel.... John i hope ur not scrapeing the floors with ur old plastic trowel lol

i used to use a mighty long trowel for domestics but found it used to pick up too many inperfections in older houses, ceiling ect, made it hard work to skim areas, so down sized , it tended to pick up every hollow and even make some at times due to its length...

these do look good though, would like to try.

John speed skim first & second coat and trowel up straight away with the plazzi, also you don't have to be too particular what each coat goes on like, just whack it on and let the speedskim do the work

We are using the speed skim regularly as above, never got to like my free plazzy , too delicate, could not understand where it came into play, ps where does those barton ones come from, handy for arches I heard.

I only use the plazzi on the last trowel? Don't overdo it or it will be like a fookin mirror.

Jesus I am so behind the times here. Will someone explain please. Do you apply the two coat skim just as normal then finish with a speedskim then plastic trowel ( ive never seen or used neither). So the speedskim is like a big caulker? You must have to use a trowel for the edges though?

Apply first, flatten with speed skim, apply second when you feelits right, flatten with speed skim allow to pull in flatten with spat or trowel or plazzy,

Had the p1ss one with the old chubby handle, did not take to it and found the blade broke easy,I must get a decent one and try it out as jr is being stubborn..

How did the blade break johnio? I think jace broke his too?
Weaker than a twig I think, and the spare, went the same way, not fit for purpose I thought , which is a shame, some seem to find them invaluable, jr spunky and a few more guys, not sure if its the Same one as this but on that theme, sorry to hear jr got mugged, tomorrow

Not exactly, you will be troweling a couple of times before its dry at least, some seem to do very little and its finished, sadly not i, I speed skim twice, between coats, I may speed skim again with a little water, then I use my super spat or eze spat , I may use my normal trowel to finish, but if you read along the threads you will get varied ways ..
