So has it affected your ability to win work ?

Am on the Irish gyprock approved applicator scheme. It's aimed at new build and domestic. Had to go down to gyprock for 2 days and do hardwall skim dot and dab tape and joint. And learn all about there products when to use and when to not. All the work was inspected. On the frist day at lunchtime a bloke didn't come back. I asked where is he. And the instructor just give me that look. Don't ask. I went down to where he was working it was a mess. We had to do a test at the end of it. Had to answer question. Can't remember how many. Then you just handed in the form. If u pass u get on the list. They give u t-shirt and a top and a gyprock approved booklet. So when pricing jobs u can show clients what products you are going to use and what' best for there job. The like when they see it in a book what u are actually going to do. And that you are approved by gyprock to carry out the work. It's a sales pitch. But it works. U look the part. They get some confidence in you. Iv used it 3 times now pricing jobs and won jobs. And was far from the cheapest. I don't price much work as I work 90% for my own builders.

Vinceys a whole new level theres only me and him who ive heard talk most about it so who else is there

Not the sound soloutions one but i got one for trialling the new updated hardwall.
The diploma one i just didnt have the time to do it .
Ill definatly do the render one though when the email gets about.

Just read the terms conditions, , , radiators to be removed, and re fixed ,,
50% of customers won't pay for that,, ,they want you to skim round them,,, which is crap.
I would assume that as long as you recommended to the client that they be removed that you'd be covered if they declined.

Now this sounds exactly like what I was hoping the BG scheme would be. Bloody spot on.
Come on @BritishGypsum give us, that concentrate mostly on new builds, something like the Irish version. Please, pretty please.

I love all those books, I have the white book and site book and update them regularly but I am very geeky like that I also have loads of books on Plastering and building even Millers plain and decorative which cost me ninety odd pound twenty odd years ago. I just think that all these things telling me I can do what I know I can do are not for me but if it works for others that’s their choice. never renewed my CIS card after the first one which was meant to tell people you could do what you say you can

Some people really don't seem to like it when I get the site book from the van to prove I'm right.
I know what you mean Andy but they could have it as well just can’t be bothered to send for it or don’t really care about their trade and their work, shame really

Tbh I also carry a 2007 edition site book in van , as unlike the biggest hypocrite on here I don’t proclaim to know it all

I love books,, ,but its porno ones.

Of course it is lol. Apparently it’s was only the first 100, then they realised no one ( the masses) was interested
I find it mad that if was that big of a thing they haven’t promoted it well I think your average joe public will still go to the other sites for plasterers over the bg scheme myself as they don’t know about it

I'm quite tempted to get on this thingy, them freebie training is a good thing
Not sure they take on any carpet fitters tho

Someone who concentrates on new builds is either a boarder or skimmer but never a plasterer :)
Yeah I know what you mean, we only screed, tack, direct bond, Bond out curved areas, skim and render on our new builds. Oh and over 400sqm of F&S is one new build last year and over 300 S&C F&S new builds in the last twenty years.
So yeah maybe we're not plasterers.
I'm sad.
Oh I have fixed a few (cough) metres of cornice and run a bit in situ.
Never mind, I'm still sad.
