got my first private job for next tuesday. A damp proofing company has renderd
outside walls of a house using sand and cement and a specialist waterproofing admix
to a level of 4 feet. Im going to skim it, question is -- should I put some water proofer
in the skim as the customer is insisting on it or will feb mix be sufficient ? Thanks
for any help in advance

Are they gonna ask for some in the paint or wallpaper too.
I'm no expert in this area but isn't waterproofing the render enough?
Ask why the Spread who did the rendering not there.

Adding anything to the skim could affect its performance and strength. No company would back it if its been tampered with. The finish coat is only to give an adequate surfurce for decoration. The chemical injection and The right render application with additives is whats gonna HOPEFULLY cure damp issues. Good luck!

put nothing in finish but clean water,120 euro for two days whats that about 100 quid.
so these are the facts
1.your doing the job for peanuts ie nothing
2.you dont know what your doing
3.because you didnt do the backing, if the damp proofer hasnt done his job properly and there any comebacks, it will fall on you as you were the last man in.

sorry pal but as bubbles said your killing the trade

i find that a bit harsh. the plasterer that taught me the game (i know i need to learn more) said i was mustard. i am the best guy hes had in a month. Im starting off cheap to build up a customer base and then ill start charging 200 a day

because 'mate' there are people in this world doing a ONE DAY COURSE, i repeat, ONE....DAY...COURSE.... to learn plastering, you can't even learn what all the tools are called in that day. its complete ******* b*ll***s and its destroying this trade, there are people like rockhardsolidplastering who are having to work for as little as 80 a day because chancers are charging **** all for work anymore. you said yourself

' Im starting off cheap to build up a customer base and then ill start charging 200 a day'

the cheap jobs you price up, people will have to match your price if they want the work. and you cant just say right im going to charge more now because im better than i was. it doesnt work like that at all. so a decent spread who knows the trade is having to compete with someone who did a one day course on their day off from tesco. its wrong and no one will tell me different

its not arrogant, its fact. i don't give a flying **** if your master plasterer said youre mustard. no one, and i mean no one can learn plastering in a day. this trade becomes even more of a joke everytime someone like you joins up, might sound harsh but its true.
