Skimming a patch

I have removed some tiles today that have taken about 3mm of plaster with them. I have removed all loose plaster and now have a band of approx 3' across the Middle of a wall. I was thinking of trying to skim this rough band .do I need to have ova on it before I skim it and what's the easiest type on skim to use . I have seen some that's called multi finish would that be suitable. Thanks

iwould presume by ova you mean pva yes put pva on and multi finish is fine

Just in case, not neat pva...

No water it down and Pva about a foot either side of the patch so you can blend it in easier
