How do you lads go about getting site work? I mainly just get private work or factory offices etc. Do you get much site work and what's the rates like?I want to try getting into site work for when the private works a bit quite!

if you been used to private mate now is the wrong time to get into site work, rates are half what they were in 2007 and it will be a tough transition doing three times as much work per day to earn the same crust.

but otherwise if your fast anyway and an early starter just ring any drylining firm and see if they have a start for yer simple as that really, only snag is they wont want you just nippin off for a week here and a week there to do your own stuff, they will want you there every day for the duration of the site so maybe have to do your private at weekends.

in manchester there are more spreads than jobs on site so good luck but there are alot of firms to try

Ive been back onsite for nearly 2 years now and i promised myself that i never would. £2 a metre for skimming its shite me and me lad use 11 bags a day which is about £12-1300 quid but its hard graft

£2 a metre and you get £1200 a day between 2 of you? Or am I reading that wrong? If I'm reading that right I'd rather earn that than sit scratching my bollox all day! Lol

1300 quid? thats a good rate

bang it on, sponge float it, done move on, loadsa money:RpS_thumbsup::flapper:

I haven't got a clue how to use a sponge float! So you could post a few tips? Lol do you not need a second coat when using a sponge float? I never really second coat anyway unless I got time on my hands lol

Think about it. ........They are doing 600 metres a day with 11 bags ???

Have a real long hard think about it.

Mate, the weeks I have no work I'd be happy with £300 lol but I wouldn't bother getting out of bed if it was a long job.

I thought sponge floats would be a waste of time, I don't see how adding more to the job would make it faster!

Can't do any site work at the minute anyway, no cscs card. Never needed one cause it's only private work I've been doing but I've got my test on Saturday so I might start phoning around though...

When you get your card heres a few contacts they all pay shite.sunny bank. plaster plus. mansell. nansons. preston dryliners.

they should all have work but would doubt they will even be paying the rate quoted above so it will be long days but it could be steady away so swings and roundabouts really
