Hi lads just been to look at a job (hallway and stairs) the customer has taken the wallpaper off and some section you can see silver foil that's under the old wallpaper, has anyone seen this before I'm guessing yes the section are small 5" square is the biggest would you suggest that it's got to come off ? It's stuck pretty good as the customer couldn't shift it ?

Probably on an outside wall, to hide the dampness from condensation. Take it off marra:RpS_thumbup:

Is it really thin like gold leaf and stuck really well? If so then I don't know what it is but I've come across this a few times on old places and just pinked it and skimmed. No problems, no comebacks.

It's to hide damp patches mate.

Although when a electric moisture metre is put on the wall the foil carries the current and gives a reading of mega damp.

Hacked loads of walls off with this type of wall paper on there nearly always bone dry.

If there's space, insulate it :RpS_thumbup:
Otherwise you might be getting a call-back to sort the 'damp' wall out...........
