Alright chaps,

As work is a bit thin on the ground, I went for a meeting at a local conservatory fitting company who assured me that so long as my work was up to scratch then they had plenty on and would take me on as one of their plasterers.
As 90% of my work is domestic I'm a bit green when it comes to working for large firms and would appreciate your comments on the following...

The Manager wants me to submit a meterage rate to INCLUDE the cost of materials - Ie, if I was happy to work for £3 a square metre then I would have to supply the materials needed. Thats not so much a problem as I can work it out fairly accurately but what does concern me is the possibility that I could be sent to a job only to find its a couple of dwarf walls that works out at about 10 square metres - £30 for a job !!!

Anyone else had to work like this or do I put a clause in saying that no matter what the meterage, I want a minimum of £80 or so before I get out of bed ?

work out whats in your average conny lets say 15m if your dabbin and skimmin lets say 6 boards at a £5 theres £30, 3 bags of drywall £15, 2 finish £10, 4 skim beads £5 fibretape £5 Bags and rubbish removal £10 Deisal £10, Labour for the day £200 that adds up to £285 round it upto £300 devide it by 15m equals £20 per metre that gives you an idea.

Your right you need to set your metreage rate, but dont forget its float and set most of the time on these jobs, and add the clause of a minimum rate, I do this with a firm now I charge them a day rate of 180 for anything over 15m2 anything under 100 and thats plus materials and travel.
