Hi all,
I've been reading these boards for a while, so thanks for all your insight. I have a question to which I can't see a conclusive answer. We've just had our extension Rendered with K1, and I don't know if I should be sealing it or not. We are are in London so not massively exposed, south facing. Two sides will see very little sun though.
Should I worry about it going manky or can I just leave it be?
If I do seal it, does it have to be with Kpro? Ideally I want something I can grab off the shelf at a local merchants.

I have seen so many threads but am still not sure.

I appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Mike

Wykamol enviroseal does the trick.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Do I need to seal ASAP or can it be done whenever? So if it still looks ok in the spring for example?

About a month after completion, after a couple of dry days. Spring will be fine. Probably more chance of getting a couple of dry days in November/December than spring. Was it k1 spray or k1 silicone?

It was Silicone. It’s not rained since application a week ago so was thinking I should try to get it done before it ever sees rain but from what you’re saying giving it some time can’t hurt?

The Silicone is through the whole system though. Even if the surface layer did weaken there’s silicone just underneath. Hardly makes it porous.
Did my house in silicone ft years ago. Never sealed it, it’s shows up wet. Jobs i’ve done and sealed never show up wet. Water beats off them.

So. First rain today and there’s a few areas which will definitely go manky. So. I’ll give it a month and then seal. Can hardly hurt. Interesting to see there is still no conclusive answer.

Isn’t it pointless sealing K1 Silicone? That’s the point of the Silicone isn’t it.

I sealed a newly rendered one the other day,

K1 silicone, sealer was just running off. K pro.

Usually it holds for a mo. Just saturated it on, two in quick succession.

Seemed a bit pointless tbh.
