Been asked to bring floor level in a conservatory level with existing as there taking patio door out and having just a opening its 25mm low,do you rekon 25mm of screed is to thin and will break up,you can get fibre's to put in the mix that could help, what do ya rekon lads ? :-\

Remove all old droppings of plaster and any other debris. All dirt and dust should be removed. The concrete base should be given a good soaking overnight before levelling screed is laid. Brush off any excess water before
‘grouting’. Grout is 1:1 sand/cement mixed with water in a bucket. This is applied to the wet concrete and brushed in. A PVA bonding agent can be applied to help bond the sand and cement to the base. Minimum thickness for this floor should be 25mm so its ok for what your doing.

Once you have carried out the above procedure , you can screed as normal and "sweat it" this means covering in a light weight plastic sheet for several days , it will never come up after that

25mm screed should not be a problem as long as the floor has an s.b.r slurry and the new screed is laid into it
alternatley go for mapei topcem which is basically cement product which has been designed for thin section screeds

sorry completely stupid but all posts run off tangent ;D...just a guess but could you put 25mm timber fixed directly to the floor and celotex inbetween with a vapour barrier underneath fix floor boards over the top plus laminate carpet etc raise the existing floor up 10mm with latex ...........oh bugger wont work anyway ;D

The screed should be reinforced over the cables and pipe work at that thickness. For what they cost I have fibres in all my screeds whether asked for or not.

that reminds me i got a flyer through the post today.. www.chembondproducts.com
apparently they do different fibres for screed and render...?
and 65% of all external renders fail within the first 20 years... safe bet i reckon :P
and at the bottom of the flyer was a bit on rendering courses ::)
i hope it wasnt just me who got one ;D
