Hi can I ask if anyone has any experience with using a product called Rubbercrete http://www.rubbercrete.co.uk/index.php

The test results look impressive but I want to get real life feedback from people who have used it, how easy is it for a competent plasterer to use, is it effective at soundproofing, can it be used on ceilings?

Thanks all happy new year

I used it once to make a suit.

used to work with a big round bloke who used to scuba dive...
he had a dry suit for british waters....
used to wear the 1 peice undergarment thing from it to work in the winter...

we used to call him 'la la'... just missing the silver square off the front.. ;D

Sorry mate , no not used it or even heard of it , but looks interesting ,let us know if you find any thing more out , especially price wise etc

hehehe great comments you guys crack me up!

Seriously these guys claim to have their product tested for both sound and thermal insulation and the results just seem unbelievable compared to all the soundproofing products out there like panels etc.

All one need do is mix it slap it on 20mm thick and double blueboard and their BBA tests claim that you can get between 45-60db improvement. In all my extensive research of soundproofing techniques I've not come across this product before.

They quoted a price in the £17 per bag, each bag covering about 2.5sq.m if applied at 20mm thickness.

Here are the demo videos, the main page also has certificates for acoustic performance.

I will let you know if I take the plunge and post the results here. Happy New Year.

Ive used that walltransform on a job in Preston, it was crap (imo), It was a big bag of poly balls which you added a little bag of binder to, That rubbercrete looks similar gear

Save ur time and money....looks like a load of crap !!!!!
Great vid on how to mix the stuff though, learnt loads from that.....lol

I was asked to soundproof a semi detached once...used a resilient bar system with mineral wall inbetween the battens then 2 layers of plasterboard (same can be done on ceiling)...didn't seem to do much other than insulate the walls! I found flanking noise was a serious problem and the costs begin to spiral the more areas you treat...better to deal with the source or get a engineer of some kind to do tests. As for the rubbercrete i'd check that its suitable for your job, from what I remember the best systems are detached from the problem surface.

I found this site while I was researching systems demo looks good

I understand. What do you make of its BBA certificate? I thought it was hard to get that. Tell me more about why you think this product is bad.

I wanted to go for traditional soundproofing methods but I need a low profile solution, the test result PDFs suggest this product performs very well with minimal wall loss?
