Rendering water feature walls

Been to look at a job were they have had some water feature pits built in the ground 5m long by 2m wide only 250 high,he want the walls rendering but is on about fixing tile cement boards to walls and floor then using a wet room tanking system to cover joins then wants me to render walls with a waterproof render ie sika so they can be painted then fill up with water can not see rendering staying on the tile boards myself any ideas on best products for this

Ashley - Aquapanel Interior is a tile backer and Aquapanel Exterior is a render carrier board, almost the same, but Exterior is heavier (more clay / cement core) so freeze thaw suitable and better for external use....

This sounds more like a swimming pool application, the key is more about the backing structure of the boards. Aquapanel Exterior will be fine - as long as the structure behind supports the whole area behind them..... They will need to be fully tanked to stop the water getting through

You might want to talk to Gooner on here (Asif will remember who I mean - he specialises in swimming pools!)

They normally fibreglass them if constantly fully immersed in water which vis gel coated with the desired colour ( sorry , many hours trawling the net on koi pond ideas and water features)

Mapei have a huge Waterproofing range, I would advise contacting @Mapei and asking them about the Mapelastic System or Idrosilex Systems render systems used in swimming pools
