Hi Guys,

We have recently had a number of calls from homeowners and Rendering contractors who have had issues with scratch Render staining.

There is a way to help prevent this, I'm unsure if everyone is familiar with the products available so I thought it would be worth sharing a post from our FB page:
Render stains - Prevent it!

Many people have a bad perception of Scratch Renders due to staining. Majority of the time this is due to the way the building has been designed, poor over cills and minimal roof lines which don't allow any form of protection for the render system.

Parex have the solution for this;

PAREX PARAGUARD a water based coating, which provides a weatherproof, lotus leaf effect, water resistant surface to a range of render, masonry and timber substrates. Over years people have become wary of Scratch Renders due to staining through pollution or Algae - this is the solution to combat this.

PARAGUARD AG is safe to the environment and to those using it. The product may be applied by brush, lambswool roller or airless spray gun to achieve a non-staining, clear, natural coating which is easily cleaned. The product is repellent to the following; water, dirt, oil, grease, graffiti, atmospheric pollutants and vehicle fumes. PARAGUARD AG is pre-packaged and ready for on-site use. The product is non-sacrificial, so once cleaned, will not need to be re-coated.

Approx Coverage 125m2 per 25 litres.

It costs a few quid but if it does work surly it's worth it and am sure most customers would pay for it but am sure contractors wouldnt

Most customers will not pay. Done 2 this year. Most customers are put off by the drying out time of 1-3 weeks.

If you sell it to the customer they will have it.
To be honest it takes half a day max to do a semi with scaffold still up. It about a tub max so £275.
We spray it bottom up and wipe off windows straight away.
I'd even offer it at just material cost if it came to it just so I know it will look fresh in years to come.
If the client is spending the money on mono they should be able to front that little bit more. We need to release the inner salesman among us sometimes.
Sell your products sell your business. You'll win the work.

In the summer we are sealing it in a few days, reps been happy with this. It's breathable so it won't trap the moisture and also doesn't peel off so can't seem the issue if sprayed not long after?
