Rend aid with sand and cement

Hello
I have had renderers look at my house and give a quote and advise what needs doing. The render has to be normal sand and cement to match other parts of the house. The base is on one part of the building is face bricks and one part thermalite blocks.

Renderer 1 has said rend aid must be used on this application prior to sand and cement render.

Renderer 2 has said he would not recommend mixing the polymer based rend aid with traditional sand and cement render as you should not mix two different types of products.

Please advise which render is correct.

Rendaid is fine for sand and cement. As long as its applied leaving a good key. SBR slurry would also work.
