Hi all
im sure you have all seen this one before but ive been asked to price a job and they are wanting a price per m2 for: unibond & skim
dot dab & skim
Float & set (hardwall)
to be honest i usually just price price per job but just wondered what you guys thought ?
was thinking:
unibond & skim -£5
dot dab & skim- £12
Float & set (hardwall) £15

this i based on labour & materials , walls 2.4 (height) and im based in nottinghamshire
cheers in advance ;)

why do people do it, were all in business against each other and people come on here asking what our rates are. I think its one rule that should never be broken. if your a good spread then your know how to price, if you don't know how to price you shouldn't be taking customers money because you don't know how to don the job. >:( >:( >:( If you don't like what i have said, tough, get over it.

I couldn't agree more, the more threads there are like this on here the less I feel like giving any useful answers to those that come on asking about things I do know about (which ain't much). It's not like everyone on here uses their real name so you know who you're dealing with is it?

I think there is nothing wrong with asking the question ..... this forum is here to help everyone experienced or not.

your not far off smooth but dont forget to factor in loading up of materials, wastage, removal of waste and allowing retention and possibly a 90 day wait for your money.

the guy has asked a question, its quite obvious he isnt a threat else he wouldnt be asking the question.

get over it and help the guy out i say

Nicely said Rich couldn't agree more ::) If you don't like the question or feel you have nothing to offer then don't respond simple as that

work out how long each job will take say 5 days now times it by what you want per day say 100 quid then divide it by the meterage this leaves you with youre rate if youre supplying the kit work the cost out per m and add whatever you want profit/hassle etc

Cheers rich at least some of you guys are friendly on here

dont worry mate, a LOT of arrogant c**ts on this forum, probably the s**t spreads at the end of the day! if you cant ask advice from people who are experienced then how the f**k else do people learn! no wonder this worlds a s**t hole with people all totally out for themselves!

freerider.....theres alot of friendly guys on here, especially the guys who answered 1st this thread...( who has given me alot of help in the past.)...theres enough info on this forum for anyone who wants to get ahead in plastering whether it be on the latest techniques or products etc...all withing easy reach of the past history in the thread column........BUT.........to start talking about money and what per meter u should be charging , well in my opinion thats a step too far........money is money , theres alot of spreads on here why would you want to tell your competition what your charging.....arrogant or intelligence ? , saying all that £ 15 per meter skim ;o)

Like i said you do not after respond to threads, but there is no need for the type of response he got , that's all ???

the guy wasnt asking how much we charge he was asking if his price was in the right ball park. I think we are better off answering these questions and by doing so try and up the rate around the country.

answering questions and guiding people on their prices may help put an end to these wankers charging £99 a room etc etc.

Rich

rich i was gonna say exactly that earlier but didnt know how to say it right. it stops him going in stupidly low and f**k**g it for all of us

Fair enough lads if a question is asked ie how much should i charge and its there 1st or 2nd post it might wind some up, it might be a customer trying to bring a price down, it might be someone competing against you but at the end of the day its a forum for advise so where do we draw the line on advise? How do i do this and do that sounds fair enough but you wouldnt give a price over the phone so why over the net? The lad was askin was his price fair all you need to say is yeh sounds about riht or not comment so thats why i didnt comment.....................................ah s**t i did :(

exactly ! i just wanted to make sure i was somewhere close thats all , and same as you say im sure most people on here would moan if the customer expects them to skim a room for 80 quid!

Oh and simplybesty if you dont want to anwser the question properly without giving me abuse then dont reply you f#ck*in numpty!

yes for one house mate
i think thats reasonable price for including materials
told the customer that will be including the windows and doorways though.

it makes absolutely f**k all difference anyway ...........unless youre the only bloke putting in a price ..........sit five blokes in a room with a rough idea of how to price a job and i bet from one end to the other thered be a fair bit of difference then it comes back to how good they are etc and lady luck

the only reason i ask mate is because some people dont know the score and its ok if its a big job but you dont wana giv the public a price per meter and they want you to go and do a bathroom ceiling on one job then a wall on another and so on, but if they do insist on a price per meter it is worth measuring up together, you and the customer. we tend to round up on meters per room and they tend to round down, you know what i mean mate. i personally charge for my time :) hope this helps

i totall agree mate your not going to skim a bathroom ceiling say 3x2 for 30 quid on 5 quid a metre !
i normally charge per day
cheers ;)
