powerwall

Just wondering if anyone has had much experience with powerwall. Think its great stuff to use, if mixed right and you get more time to play with it. My only problem with it is floating the ingoes, does anyone have any tips on floating them as every time i do so they seem to tear away quite badly and take a great amount of time opposed to sand/cement. Any help would be appreciated as i have a lot this year

Av never used powerwall. where would you use it and why ???

Powerwall can be used for wetdash/drydash/scratch render. I suppose its pretty much the same as k-rend but better to use. Dont know the difference in price between them as i am labour only. One thing id say thought is, it stings like fck when u get it in ur eye!!!

The next block im moving on to has 2 massive gables, about 80-90m2 in it with to movement beads. Shitting myself going on to this as im only a1+1

The boys who were in before me done that, and tbh it looks terrible. Tried to let it go harder today then splash a bit watter then float up and sponge but wasnt happy with the finish. Think its all about timing with powerwall, but in the meantime i suppose ill float when i think ready then sponge

try floating it wet with a plastic trowel not a float to get it flat and smooth, then leave it go for ages and rub it with a fine white sponge to leave the sandpaper finish. they take longer than normal reveals. Another way is to lay reveals on and shave them flat, then lay a really thin coat of their adhesive which is available in white and sponge it straight away. looks the same but quicker

Cheers for that, ill give the first method a try. Its just a bugger they are so time consuming. I can normally do a window floated, sponged and cleaned in 5 minutes with sand/cement. Powerwall is about 10-15 minutes

i dunno maybe lay more on. Whats Powerwall like now for delivery etc not used them in a while. Its all i used to use and TBH never had any big problems that was down to bad material, deliveries were a pain though

Aw theyre a nightmare for delivery, phoned up last week for 2 tonne of white and told it would be on site on friday, signed for delivery at 15:45 yesterday! Lol

Absolute nightmare of a day today, almost changed my opinion on the stuff in one afternoon. For some reason the batches have been awful today and ive not got a clue why. Maybe because its a new delivery or just a bad batch? The base coat i was using today was awful, wouldnt mix right and wouldnt stick to the wall as usual, also it would go hardish in under 20mins in the tub. Lost the rag 2 or three times today and need any advice if anyone has experienced the same? The material was only made ten days ago!

Power walls sure rend is great gear, don't over mix if using a mixer. Wet it up again after 5 mins and mix again. As for ingos you can get desperate stuff called smooth band if having trouble rubbing sure rend. I personally float them after 5 mins. Won't b as smooth as sand and cement ingos but smooth enough

Got the ingos spot on now mate, all about timing.
Im having bother with the base coat though. Dont know what it can be.

6tonne delivered
Open 1st tonne, perfect, brilliant to use.
Open 2nd tonne, terrible. No body, doesnt stick to the wall as good. Really hatd work to trowel in
3rd and 4th tonne, fine
5th tonne, same as the 2nd.

Im thinking it could be bad batches but i cant tell till its in the mixer. Bags are the same except different dates.

had bother with krends base a while ago, the rep told us to add freeflo, try putting a half liter of it through a big mixer, mabey some numty forgot to add a plasticiser

Tried that mate. Pathetic they cant get it right for the amount they charge.
Just glad im no paying for it and on day rate!

Just tried it this week for 1st time after using M R on last job which was ok but would want to drag off if u wanted to trowel over any lines.
Did gable in half the the time and half the effort, and more importantly it cost half the money! Saved around £500 between powder and chips!:RpS_thumbup: it went on like muti Finnish and mixed well through standard mixer which makes the labourer happy. ( if that's possible)
