Plastering to the floorboards

Currently replastering (floating) the bottom 6" of a wall to match the existing floated wall.

I believe a gap should be left between the plaster and floor so that any damp or spillages are not soaked up by the plaster.

What size gap should I leave between the bottom of the plaster and the floorboards ?

How bigs the skirting that’s going on?

Skirting is about 4" deep

Ah ok about a inch then ish it's not a complete science as long as your skirts have enough behind when you screw in! Take too much off and when you screw in it will pull the bottom in and buckle an look like a right pissed up c**t!!

Don’t tell us you got special tape for skirting and architraves

and a load of bent clouts left over from beading up.

Expanding foams for sticking skirts on. Couple of nails from the pin gun to hold while going off.

like the sound of that one, will give it a go. clear silicon and pins is a winner too.
clear always seems to stick better than white?

25mm or an inch in old money should do you well mate!

Joiner I use only uses silicon. Swears by it

Place offcuts of plasterboard on the floor, work down to them remove then skim.

But surely you wouldn't be using your best taping I, I mean skimming trowel to float with would you?

Always rendered down to the floor then cut back after it’s been floated

I just slap it on and see where it ends up. Skirting will cover it anyway, who cares
