Hi, I have to plaster the wall that runs up the side of my stairs and the wall above them (if that makes sense). What do you guys use for access so you can reach the top and that won`t block your way when doing the lower part of the wall?

treble 8 and scaffold boards, move them aside as needed

You might want to consider doing a join on that area because it can be hard to move around quickly and safely. The last thing you want is to fall from your platform.

falling brings character in SW London anyway. Its one of those things where you have to see it to advise, you can get a proper platform scaffold with a trap door, but its too much hassle for me, depends too on whether its one or two spreads or a labourer who can flatten in, not safe on your tod..

Sounds like he's planning to do it on his own.

Why do we fall?

So that we can pick ourselves up again.

Lean a ladder to your bulk head. hop up on your top step and run a plank from hop up to ladder. Keep the ladder and plank banister side , you'll still reach your wall, and have access up and down your stairs.

yeah i was planning to do it on my own but was concerned about time and it drying out too quickly while i messed around moving whatever platform i use, i don`t plaster professionally just for myself so don`t have a labourer but might get someone to help. Thanks for the input everyone

Remember safety first. You should just call one of us guys in to do it for you. Stairwells are tricky for amateurs. The area you're covering is much greater than a standard wall in your house.

Never save on your own with a temporary scaffold, knew a guy in Ireland who got 18 stitches in his backside and had to drive twenty miles to a hospital to get them, too many things can happen while on your own especially rushing at something unfamiliar, even someone to hold a ladder, get fresh water etc is a help..
