Have a brick fireplace that needs plastering; I’ve been told to do lime plastering for it.

Which lime is needed; hydrated or hydraulic?
How long will it take to cure/set til can paint over it? And will it need to be a specific type of paint?

Fireplace is going to have a 4kw log burner/multi fuel burner in it.

Agree with Tinytom, Don't like using that Aquapanel though, too fragile and breaks too easily when handling, I prefer Hardiebacker or similar.

I agree mste the aqua panel is cheap and readily available though
Just got to be really careful when carrying and lifting out the van. It’s sound with plenty of dab behind

Does it stick ok with just dab?
I’ve have screwed them to the wall before now as I think the aqua panel will suck the life out of the dabs.

FairPlay Tom.

Mates had theres done recently. Opened up chimney breast, hearth, plaster and new stove. Cost a good few grand and done in a day or so. They were pleased, but for me and the money they paid (and I’ve seen a few installations now), I would be beading up and skimming the whole face and sides.

Im not that F*****g brave...but come on lets be honest for a minute youve got to accept your cutting corners and doing a rushed job to get around multiple in a day apose to taking time and leaving it mint
