Good old days right @essexandy when people were happy just to have a solid wall. Didn’t care how uneven it was. Then the standards went up so they invented plasterboard because 8 in 10 couldn’t float properly lol

I think better quality spreads then , if you couldn't do it you were out the door , now theirs the highly skilled art of smoothing the bumps with a floppy bit of plastic lol , DND just sped drying times and now builders can see profit in whacking it up and get a spread to hide their sins

Drywall was bought in to dumb down the trade and supposedly speed things up.
Dumb down and fracture the trade, then lower the rates. Skimmers, stickers, tackers, screeders and renderers, all considered separate now.
