Plaster board and heating issue

Hi we have an extension which gets very cold and doesn’t retain heat very well in the colder months. Can go down to 14/15 degrees at night in winter. One of the rooms is my daughters bedroom and it is over the garage, which isn’t heated, so doesn’t help the situation.
We’ve recently had insulation put in the ceiling of the garage (so bedroom floor) and a new rubber & resin roof on the extension.
However I also recently discovered that underneath the coving, the plasterboard doesn’t reach the top of the wall so there’s a gap between the top of the plasterboard and the ceiling. It’s covered by coving but could this be a reason why heat escapes so quickly out of the room? Pic shows the gap.
Currently need to put a heater on in room at night, so anything we can do to reduce heating bills for the long term will help.
Any advice appreciated, thanks
