Looks like it been done with a medium pile roller mate? you may need to experiment with consistency of artex to match. Can you not talk them into skimmin it???:RpS_wink:

Its Stipple finish mate and a bugger to patch as it can look like the m6 going through your ceiling. Gotta go with fatarm on this one and get it skimmed

looks like a contract stipple finish
done with artex stipple brush (1ft sq)on a pole

agree with above ...you will never patch them in properly

The m6 lol andy, stipple or roller, it will be a coont to patch it :RpS_crying:

If they really want it stippled, skim the whole ceiling, then artex it & use a stipple pad.

M6 on my ceilings

agreed it wont match great, but its every ceiling in every room, painted with a bit of skill it will be reasonable at best...

do you have a picture of one of these stipple things, do you roller it, twist it or apply and pull....

yes contract finish in an 80's new build....

Have a look here -> artex stipple pad - Google Search

You just bounce it on the surface & turn each time just before you hit the ceiling to avoid box marks :RpS_thumbup:

It might work if you stick some foil tape on the existing first so you dont get any overlap just make sure you get it on the same thickness and it shouldnt be too bad, but it will never be perfect.

you have not got a cat in hells chance. not only has it lost the tape but the caulking out coat as well. the whole ceiling needs to be stripped of pattern, taped, caulked, sealed and texured. it would be best left to someone who knows how to tape or it will happen again.

Agree with Malc, Did this trade solely for at least ten years and Stipple cant be patched , it looks shocking along a full joint like that when patched. If this happened on site and it was Stipple pattern it had to be a full redo.
