Hi guys,

I just bought a old stone house built in 1885. On the inside the walls are a old plaster which has a texture as i believe it was mixed with ground up animal hair. The plaster is in great condition but showing its age(has a slightly dirty look). I was wondering if there is a way to refresh it with somekind of plaster based paint? I don;t want to change the look of the walls i just want to refresh them. Any idea. I have no clue about plaster. Here is a pic.

Don't think there's such a thing as plaster based paint, it's either distemper as a old fashioned paint or a kind of old fashioned varnish containg shellac, protects the lime plaster but doesn't add any colour as such.

What about base coat paint from b and q? It's a thick paint that covers cracks and that, pricey though.

spray them with fabreeze :RpS_thumbup: No really there is no need to thank me :RpS_biggrin:

what exactly is lime wash? The walls are white but dingy, i want to make them white but i don't think you can clean the walls. So a paint or a watery plaster skim or something. I don;t really know anything about plaster :(

Use French lime for white lime wash about six to one ratio let it dry properly between coats 2days for first 5days for each coat after
