Hi all,

I've started over board a curved ceiling, I've boarded to the curve, using 12.5mm boards. How would I go about boarding the curve, someone mentioned putting slits in the back of the board and dampening it down...? Guess it would be better to use 9.5mm and make up the difference with bonding?

Cheers

Board the flat part of the ceiling up to the curve, then board the flat part of the splay up to the curve, then the gap that's left use say a few 2" strips of board to fill the gap, then round it of with bonding :RpS_thumbup:

You can bend the board quite easily anyway no need for wetting it down. Use knee power :RpS_wink:

Its one of those ceilings where there is no clear break between ceiling/wall so both will have to be skimmed at same time. Think what i'm going to do is remove the plaster from the curve to expose rafters, board what i can and make the rest up with bonding.

BG do a 6mill fibre board for curved work though i wouldnt use i in this instance just pack out with strips of 9.5 and bond it.

Lafarge do a flexible 6mm board I think if it's not lafarge its someone else You might be thinking of the 6mm board that's like hardibacker

can you score the back where there curve will be (the tighter the radii the closer the scores) line the board up on the ceiling and while in position break the board scores into place and fix. dont break the scores before you put it up

skim curve as normal

Have a look at this video i know its timber but should give you some helpfull tips concerning curved work you will have to Google it cant paste it.
