I've created a s**t load of trouble for myself, family (and everyone else) over the years by over-polishing walls. I used to think the 'don't over-polish finish' advice in books was an old wives tale ... I found this out the hard way late in life only when I've come around to re-decorated my own work. After a few occasions a pattern started to appear as the matt emulsion on every ceiling came away on the roller leaving a perfect plastered surface below. It's then a true txxt of a job to fix.I am soooo fed up of seeing pictures of over polished plastered walls and ceilings... the trouble is people think its good as they would not post it all over social media...

p.s. a quick way to ruin a wall is to cross-trowel it when the plasters hard enough that you're not getting fat (or phat for those under 25, off it..
